Hi friends!
As you may or may not be aware, this is a 100% Canadian owned company. Run by myself, a woman with all of my products being 100% handmade by myself. It really hasn't been something that I have gone on and on about over the years and the last 5 years have been filled with business altering events. Year after year, something new comes along to change how I do business and what I am about. But ever true is my commitment to making and selling my own products.
I used to have brick and mortar stores and I used to sell at markets but that is no longer the way that this business keeps running. I now solely sell online with home pick up available on Salt Spring Island from my home studio when arrangements are made with my customers. This is completely different to how I saw it being but I'm pretty sure that almost everyone can say that about their lives after the last 5 years and honestly, it doesn't look any more constant for the next few years either. But, I carry on because I love to create and I just make too much for myself. It's a joy to share it with others! Markets have become too oversaturated and mostly not run by curative artisan people so they are just not the proper place for me or my products anymore, I am sad to say. Perhaps that will change in the years to come but for now, I am very happy spending my weekends and holidays creating at home or taking new classes to learn exciting new skills to share with you and my products.
As you are aware, there is a trade war going on between Canada and the United States specifically right now so in light of that and having to be tuned into the constant volleying of is there a tariff, oh it's delayed, oh it's 125%, oh its.... I have decided to no longer ship to the United States. That way I can cut myself loose from the constant changes and uncertainty and live a life filled with creating and joy and peace. The good news is that the vast majority of my customer base is from Canada so the impact of this decision is not huge. I will play around with selling to other markets where I know I have had requests to sell to and see what comes of that. Who knows, it may be a good change and opportunity? Life sometimes steers us in directions we did not expect and this may be one of those times. As I get that new offering set up, I will share with you which countries I have decided to add my availability to.
So with all of this information, I wish to thank my Canadian customers for your continued support. I appreciate you so very much and look forward to sharing all my new creations in the years ahead! I have revamped some of my offerings online as I streamline my online business so you may notice some items no longer available. These were items that were not big sellers and difficult to ship. I am focusing on creating candles and products that make shipping easy and remove the opportunity for things to get messy. I actually like the focus that my webpage now has and it's freeing to see that I have space to add some new items for 2025. I look forward to sharing them with you when all is ready!
