Greetings from the West Coast!
Hopefully wherever you are, your cold weather is going away and you are seeing signs of Spring. Here, it's been Spring like weather for at least a month now, if not longer. The daffodils are blooming, I saw yellow water lilies blooming in a stream area just today and the Wild Rose bushes have been in bloom for a few weeks now. The trees are now a sea of white and purple and green. It definitely is Spring here!
There's been so much going on that I almost missed this anniversary of an event that changed my world dramatically. It is so hard to believe what a HUGE difference these last 5 years have made. 5 years ago I was freaking out because this is the "oh, it will only be a couple of weeks" phase of the pandemic. I was sick to my stomach with anxiety over being forced to close my business and strongly felt in my gut the repercussions of this action. It was literally gut wrenching. But as a direct result of the closures, my online presence grew astronomically from what it was and I also was forced to slow down, enjoy that walks and get back to nature. Because of that time, I started to think about how and where I wanted to rebuild. I most definitely did not want to put myself in the position of opening a brick and mortar store again to simply have it stripped away when the next thing came along. And so I got to really think about where I wanted to be and it ended up being Salt Spring Island. It was absolutely not planned on and was a surprise turn of events that never would have happened without the pandemic wreaking the havoc on my business in the way that it did. Like others, I realized I could survive without a brick and mortar location and with that knowledge came the realization that I didn't need to be living in any specific location either. It was almost a open the map, throw a dart at it and see where we end up kind of situation.
It was a huge move and took a couple of years to get settled in but 2025 is definitely a year where I am ready to grow my business in ways that enhance my creativity and nourish my soul. I've been busy working on alot of new designs and directions this year. In the meantime, I have my candle line waiting on you to place your order online or enjoy an in-studio visit (just message me and we can set it up).
And as always, thank you so very much for your continued support! It may not seem like a big thing, but your orders make my heart sing every single time I receive them. I take joy in the making, packaging and shipping them on their way to you. Your support gives me the courage to try new things! I absolutely know that 2025 will be a creatively formative year. I look forward to sharing it all with you!
Until next time, sending all of my love!
